Altai Optical Laser Center is a unique Russian center for optical observations. The AOLC structure includes two ground-based optical-laser systems (GOLSs) and infrastructure, i.e. roads, power lines, a hotel, buildings of control centers, etc.


Upper platform

The ground-based optical-laser system with an information telescope (primary mirror diameter 3.12 m) is planned to be commissioned in 2022.
The telescope is currently being prepared for installation. Weighting about 100 tons, it is installed on a dominant peak 624 m high in a shelter about 20 m in diameter, 22 m high. The telescope will allow assessing the state of structural elements of emergency space vehicles, as well as assessing their positioning.
